These recordings are really cool, but that "last great album" remark is simply not true...

Well I guess because I'm an American I like OUAT. But I do like Sisters Feelings Call/Sons...a little better.

It seems fairly obvious to me these are demos recorded to tape during the working process and then these recordings are coming from the monitors in the control room - probably onto cassette tape.
Does anyone have any info as to who made these? Tape op or ? ....
I find them incredibly enlightening as to how Lillywhite changed their sound as opposed to say how Steve Hillage may have continued their great work..

As far as I know the recordings were stolen from the studio.

this tape was NOT stolen!!! I should know, as I have the original casette!

I purchased the demos from bruce findlay in september 2000. Before that, they were sat languisihing in a cardboard bos from the day the demos were laid down, until the time i purchased them!!

To back up Clive his comment...
The tapes were recorded with a microphone, that indicates that a portable device was used the record the studio sessions.
In fact at 6:50 from track 06 , you can hear Jim Kerr actually give his comment on the drumms and bass...
