I have quite a few Liz Phair demo tapes, rejected versions of records and a few live shows that have been sitting on my hdd waiting so before I move on I'm going to get her posted. Also have a few other bands sitting on the hdd I'll do before I move into Mission Of Burma and others, but I've promised a few people some very rare MoB recordings and have to start moving in that direction soon, also plenty of NMA to still post also. So over the next few days or week (how ever long it takes me to get Liz done) we'll be having a Liz fest.

Liz's 1st lp was great, even a hardcore Crass fan would be hard put to rip it to shit let alone it's said to be the origin of "lo-fi" recordings, i dunno about all that but ...

Her 2nd lp was also pretty damn good but she sorta became, I dunno too pop for me after but that didn't stop me from buying her stuff, granted the last few lps I got as promos before the release dates and didn't have to pay a dime for, plus she's a Chicago hottie so, something about her just keeps me coming back for more even though the later years really aren't my cup of tea, but its said she's working on a new lp and I'm pretty sure I'll pick it up.

Tape 01 & 02 are from my cassettes, I'm lucky enough to own them.

Tape 3 comes from a 2 silver cd bootleg set of the Girly Sound Demos so even though it claims to be the full tape I can't say 100% for I don't own the elusive tape 03 nor have I known anyone who has or even seen it.

I own this but this isn't my rip so if there are issues, eat it. Great cover by the way, it would make Spinal Tap proud, or on a more serious make Sleep Chamber and Woman Of Sodom proud. Anyway me and some friends recalled memories of Spinal Tap today so ... hence therefore and so on.

I gotta take a break from NMA I still have more to post and a load of other bands I've been waiting to get up here, loads. And I'm not the best at updating this blog everyday with 3 or more posts so maybe a NMA time out is due.

Right so a friend has this 7in in an old beat up white sleeve with white labels written across them is Gun Club Live Pandora Festival and then the song title for each side.

Thats it, so he's always said, "bootleg" and I've always wondered if it was a booted 7in from "Sex Beat 81" or "Moonlight Motel", neither of which either of us have ever owned so we can't compair the songs.

I'm posting this because I know Ladytron issues a lot of takes on a single and there tends to be one mix that is always reserved for promo only cd's or vinyl.

I bought the Ghost cd promo single and it came with a mix not on any retail version and when I bought Destroy Everything 12in promo it also had a mix not sold in retail format same with the 10 track cd promo of Playgirl. One track never saw a retail release.

This mix of Ghost is my personal favorite aside from the original recording, it's an IDM flavored mix and is pretty amazing. The Destroy Everything mix is also the best mix they did, why these version didn't get proper retail release's is beyond me.

the version of Playgirl is a bit crap gen New Order (late 80s onward) and the other two I haven't really listened to more than once.

I decided to include tracks 3 through 5 because they haven't a retail issue and some people may really enjoy them.

For my tastes though tracks 01 & 02 are amazing the other 3 are fodder.

"Throughout 2008, Mark Radcliffe's Radio 2 show has been co-hosted alongside
Stuart Maconie. On this particular evening, Radcliffe was on holiday when
Ladytron called in to plug their "Velocifero" album.
They play a kind of semi-acoustic set ... largely because most of their
gear got left behind in Italy, locked up in a garage. Musically, they tend
to come across as a fairly dour humourless bunch, but they lighten up
considerably here, discussing ... amongst other things ... Helen Marnie
warming up her underwear on the radiator before setting out to school every
morning."

Unlike the 2001 session the band sounds very much alive and full of energy, the interviews are a lot of fun. I only wish they would have included "Ghosts" in this session.

"To promote the release of the "PlayGirl" single on 12th November last,
Ladytron stepped into the Live Lounge on the Steve Lamacq show to play
a 15 minute "showcase" set. Quite brave of them, really, considering
how heavily produced their records are. And I have to say that ...
much as I like these songs, and much as I normally prefer live perform-
ances to sanitized studio recordings ... they do sound just a little
bit limp."

And rightly so, I love Ladytron and have heard them live and must say they do sound much more lively than this session, perhaps they were a bit nervous.

Still a good session, if you like Ladytron you'd be amiss to pass it by.
