Sorry central air went out so keeping this short, wanted to post this over the weekend and I'll be replacing central air & furnace unit all day tomorrow.

Side 2 lost some volume levels in the master, not too sure why. I didn't add volume to it. Its sound was good and I wanted to retain the clarity of the recording and not create anymore degradation of the source tape.

I'll be taking part in the Susan G. Komen Chicago Race for the Cure® in Grant Park on Saturday, September 25.

My mom fought off Breast Cancer a few years back, and we've been taking part every year.

Sound quality is 'A', well this depends on what you're looking for, if you want to hear Stuarts bass it's a friggin A+ if you want to hear Justin singing or Rob dummin' its a C. It's kinda like a Stuart Morrow show with minor accompaniment by Justin and Rob. Mind you thats not what it's supposed to be but that's how it was recorded, I doubt on purpose.

I did this tape because it was supposed to have a 1982 demo session on it that included Waiting, Tension, Dreaming and I Wish, it turns out that it was an excerpt from Keighley Funhouse 1981, which is posted here.

I was pretty excited to be able to have another version of Dream/ing.

The tape also included this live show.

Now if like me the main thing that really got you going about NMA way back was Stuarts playing then this show will make you pretty happy (see above) but it does remind us that Stuart liked to do some over dubbing, as any live Stuart ear show would teach, so we don't get all the goodies of the bass lines nor do we get Justin's guitar, almost a baritone guitar style of playing on this set because of how it was recorded.

There is also some wizz bang breathing heavy into a mic that this recording is feeding off of.

The limitation with capping from cassette and not a mutli channel recording is well crap like that, at first I thought it was the original taper or maybe Justin or Stuarts mics but I don't think it is, it's not always present and when it is only between songs.

I tried to really remix this but I'm not engineer genius, most of my studio exp comes from me being recorded and going into the mixing room and getting my hand slapped for touching knobs. Whats this do? .... heh ...

I do know a lil bit and multi source mixed into 2 channels is a pain to edit. I eventually decided to do hiss and noise reduction and leave the huffer alone.

I also tried to get Justin's voice a bit more clear but it was really at the expense at the depth of the bass so I dropped that idea and Robs drumming and Justin's guitar is pretty much unchangeable.

So having really enjoyed the bass show I opted to just clean up the noise and leave it pretty much alone.

Aside from that great track listing before No Rest For the Wicked album was issued show casing what seems to be the tracks from that album that must have been already fully written.

So for all paying attention, here's one more cassette done. <;-)

New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack the Collection EP

Sound quality - this is a collection of demos so it varies, the 1st 2 tracks have some tape his but are clean not muffled and after that it's pretty much a professional sounding session.

All tracks are form the CD except Lullaby Us which is new and added here as a bonus. it's my personal favorite track.

The cd has been give away free by the band, my pressing is the 2nd and from what I understand from the demo folder on their myspace page had seen 4 pressings.

Lullaby Us has been offered to people on the bands mailing list as a free download twice in the recent past. If you dig these guys get on their mailing list (see links below) for updates and the like.

This cd is being hosted by me with consent from the band. They decided to not give the cd away any more and I asked if it would be ok to host it here. They said yes. (thanx guys)

They are getting ready to issue a full length album produced by Justin Sullivan (of New Model Army) and in case you didn't notice Joolz also does their art, and might be their manager too I dunno but she seems pretty devoted to this band.

Justin and Joolz support is understandable, NYAAA really brings it. I'm hoping NMA bring them here on their next tour.

With a sound that at times reminds me of early NMA (I mean that as a compliment) and other times not at all, I highly recommend this set of demos to anyone who likes the styles of music on this blog, for NYAAA seem to embody the spirit we seek.

A great place to start is the bonus track Lullaby Us taken from their upcoming album entitled Sunriders.

Radio Berlin, if we want to talk about over looked bands, if we want to talk about bands that deserve in the light of justice and truth to be given their proper due my 1st example since they broke up in 2004 has been Radio Berlin.

Sure anyone who knows me has heard me speak of plenty of bands that deserve some just due and most of them have it on one level or another and would we (who ever 'we' are) or I (got a decent grasp on who 'I' as in 'me' is .. or perhaps not and maybe thats half the fun) want these bands to get that type of spot light from every tom dick and dave mathews band loving sheep no taste tool around? A quick siting of Janes Addiction would bring most of us to a firm "No".

But I' not going on about the New Model Armys or Southern Death Cults of the world, bands most educated music lovers have at least heard of, I'm talking about the Positive Noise and the Organs, the Radio Berlins of the world.

Names when I say to people who are educated look at me and go "who". And sadly and excitingly as a music lover it's always a rush when someone who you feel understands what music means to you can actually turn you on to a band you don;t know squat about. Sad for the band but great for those of us who get to add a new group into our personal mix.

So I post Radio Berlin out of love and respect, and I used to get to talk to Jack every now and again thru the interweb thing and I used to kinda do a lil thing on some corner on the interweb thing about new sounds and I did include Radio Berlin and always had the support of the band in doing so. Maybe this post will spark hugh sales and they'll reform ... no no dont wake me up it's pretty cool here right now.

You my ask, well who was this Radio Berlin and in all truth it would depend on the era within the band, they did have a shifting about of members but only 2 and only the once from what I understand.

They formed from a few defunted Vancourver bands (that I had never heard of until I heard Radio Berlin) and for the 1st 4 or so years it was Jack Duckworth git/keys/vocs, Chris Frey bass/vocs, Warren Hill keys/piano and Joshua Wells drums/git/keys for a year or so it was Jack Duckworth, Chris Frey, Brad MacKinnon drums and Lyndsay Sung keys/piano and then for the last 2 years or so Joshua Wells re joined the band.

I don't know if Brad ever had any material recorded and put on an album, but Joshua was/is one hell of a fuckin drummer. Focus on the drums in Aftermath for ref point #1 ... amazing.

Radio Berlin is rumored to have quite a few singles in the UK but I know of none really, so if anyone has info on them drop a line, here is their discography as I know it to be (Keep in mind I got into these guys in 2001 with the the lp Selection Drone)

1999 Split with Kid Commando, Radio Berlins song on this is great and I will rip it anmd post it soon but Kid Commandos songs are I think all renditions of the same song and suuuuuck.

There was to be a CDEP in early 2004 that never saw the light of day, for some time I made it my job to email the company who was to issue the EP to see when and keep the pressure up but to mine and many others disappointment it never came out, Radio Berlin disbanded and it was shelved.

I have tried over the years to get Jack to send me mp3s of the tracks just so I can hear them, but they are not fully mixed tracks and for some reason, be it legal or what not he's never sent them along. Bummer...

It's been a little over a year now since I talked to Jack, I know he and others have moved onto other projects and I used to have them all written down to look into but have since lost the paper so I can't at the moment be of any help in that department.

I'll admit I was a big supporter of the band and would email support pretty often but alas Jack once told me after the band was over "wrong time in the space of time" but I disagree, with all the "Post Punk" shit out there over the last decade, some good and some just a horrid embarrassment, Radio Berlin were in the proper space, they, like may 'REAL' bands were just that, seekers of a truth that only the 1% are also after, the other 99% are just tools.

So we lost another great band to mass media of the interweb age.

It took me some time, media fire only allows for 100 meg files and I wanted to keep this to 1 zip file so it was hard to pick the tracks but .....

Seems these sessions are from rehearsals for the Commercial Zone lp that was shelved and turned into This Is What You Want.

"Notes: two offer up some interesting unreleased material from what appears to be two separate events. A series of incomplete tracks, possible roughs or demos, assumed to be from Park South Studios in N.Y.C. in prep for the imploding "Commercial Zone" LP. On the other reel we have a tour rehearsal or soundcheck, also undated (82 or 83) and apparently uncirculated. Many Thanks to JJL69, spunk01, and powow for helping identify this material. The ? in the lineage is, as best as could be described, supposed 10" Reel to Reel > Cassette > Cassette, mine being the 2nd gen. No lineage on the reel 2 reel, but close to the original source. The story as told to me is: the UK arm of the American record company that Public Image recorded for had some reels hand delivered from the UK to America sometime in 1983. During that process, the reels were dubbed to cassette, and those were the cassettes that I made copies of (so my 2nd gen tape to you). The reels we could assume to be at least 2nd gen, but thats only a guess. I am unaware if these shows have ever been traded before."

I'm the lucky owner of a 1st pressing of this, white jacket and white labels.

Commercial Zone is an album of studio recordings that were released in 1983 by guitarist Keith Levene. Levene fled with the master tapes to America, where he sold the rights for the material and had several hundred vinyl pressings created without consent from John Lydon or the rest of PiL. Levene soon received a cease and desist order from PiL's record label. The album includes several songs that were later re-recorded such as "Blue Water" and "The Slab"(renamed "The Order of Death" for inclusion on This is What You Want...). Frontman John Lydon originally wanted this stripped-down acoustic version played over the end credits of Copkiller (AKA The Order of Death), a low-budget Italian film Lydon had acted in alongside Harvey Keitel.

In May 1981 PIL moved from London to New York City, but in October 1981 their American record contract with Warner Brothers expired and was not renewed. In January 1982 the British music press reported that PIL had tried to record a new album in New York with producers Adam Kidron and Ken Lockie, but split instead - this was promptly denied by the band in a press release the following week.

In May 1982 drummer Martin Atkins rejoined the band and PIL started recording their new studio album for Virgin Records at Park South Studios in Manhattan, with sound engineer Bob Miller co-producing. On 29 August 1982 new bassist Pete Jones joined the band in the studio, the new line-up played its debut concert four weeks later (28 September 1982 in New York City). During the summer and autumn of 1982 the band planned to form their own record label (Public Enterprise Productions) and license its releases to Stiff Records USA for the American market, but these plans never materialized.

In early November 1982 PIL announced the imminent release of a new single "Blue Water" and a six-track mini album You Are Now Entering A Commercial Zone on their new label. This did not happen, instead the band continued recording at South Park Studios for a full-length album.

By May 1983 a new track "This Is Not A Love Song" was earmarked as a new single for Virgin Records, but PIL broke up when first Pete Jones and then Keith Levene left the band. The remaining members, John Lydon and drummer Martin Atkins hired session musicians to fulfill touring commitments and carried on under the PIL name. The single "This Is Not A Love Song" (with "Blue Water" as a 12" single b-side), both from the Park South sessions, was released by Virgin Records in September 1983 and went to no.5 in the UK single charts.

In summer 1983, in PIL's absence, Keith Levene took the unfinished album tapes and did his own mix. He then flew over to London and presented them to Richard Branson as the finished new PIL album for Virgin Records, but John Lydon decided to completely abandon the tapes and re-record the whole album from scratch with session musicians. This new version of Commercial Zone became This Is What You Want... This Is What You Get in 1984.

Levene decided to put the album out himself on the American market and founded the label PIL Records Inc. for this one-off release. The first limited pressing was released in November 1983 and was heavily imported to the UK and European market. A second pressing (with the track listing changed around and a shorter mix of "Bad Night") followed in August 1984 in an edition of 30,000 copies, to compete directly with the official re-recorded album This Is What You Want... This Is What You Get. Virgin Records promptly took legal actions and stopped the distribution and any further re-pressings of Commercial Zone.

I have a little over 60 Public Image Ltd. shows and I weeded through them all to find the best sounding and OR ones I thought should be included due to time period, dates, set list.

Most of the shows I have are admittedly from 1978 thru 1985 so in all reality the range of time is somewhat limited.

Most of these have a bit of history / info to them, I was given an info file on most of the shows included but I left them on the disk so I'm going from wrapped memory here and if I recall correctly this is one of the 1st Public Image Ltd. shows or maybe one of the 1st to be recorded, either way it's the 1st of something. Or maybe it's just the last one I'll post and the 1st one you'll see.

Bloody hell, this is a 1978 AUD recording, the problem with AUD recordings is that, they're feckin AUD recordings.

This show actually sounds great, I listen to it more so than other PIL shows, the problem is it sounds like you're in a big fucking warehouse and you're in a room thats about 1500 feet away from the band behind an oak door.

Great sound esp the band but the draw back is you think you're outside the venue in the alley smoking pot dropping acid missing the fecking show.

All that said ... in jest a bit, this one I would recommend.

Honestly I was 10 and I saw this on the TV, it like the Clash that year burned an image in my mind that has never left of freedom and 'punk' (for lack of a better word though the word is a bit of an inslut) rock energy that has at times in my life made me a prisoner and at times filled me with the only permenat family I've ever known, sound.

It was lost on my young self that year how insane it was that Public Image Ltd. was on American Bandstand.

My fahter was a Vietnam Vet hippy motherfucker who raised me without TV until sometime around 8 years old, nothing but music in the house, both instruments and records. Out in the country and my mother working for a radio station with a few "punk" friends who started to expose my lil ass to a movement and sound that would change my life (better or worse is arguable).

Shit I had heard Public Image Ltd thanx to Margie, she exposed me to "First Issue" for my birthday along with a host of others.

I never watched American Bandstand, it wasnt a cartoon or a war movie and I knew that it was pop culture crap (thanx dad) but this new band I was recently exposed to and liked was going to be on ... so my dad and I watched it ....

I had pretty much all but forgot about it in the grand scheme of life until I came acrossed this recording ....

Now I can understand how insane it was for Public Image Ltd. to be on American Bandstand. Kinda lime when FEAR was on Saturday Night Live thanx to one cool ass motherfucker named John Belushi. Now that was a show.

I get it and all but seriously how far can you take it. Even on 5 hits of window pane most of what John and Keith say in this interview is just a bunch of crap ... the birth place of Emo perhaps, this interview.

I never cared for the Sex Pistols so I can appreciate them not wanting to talk about the 1st modern built by agent (malcome) "boy band".

I think it is ... and after that "we're a corp not a band, we don't play concerts" interview?

If you had any questions as to whether or not Lydon was a media whore while the whole time acting repulsed by it, well if you know anything about him I ask you who can you question it.

And as for being a band, well after Flowers Of Romance he just gets more and more pop oriented as the time went on.

Sorry I liked PiL but Lydon had to be one of the biggest stokes in rock when he choose to be, which was pretty much all the time.

But then ,... after all ... thats just his Public Image <;-), I've heard he is a pretty alright chap in regular life.

I personally love Radioheads new album, and I was betting I would coz I was one of those who bought the special edition pre order package with 2 cds and the vinyl blagh blagh ...

I have a shit load of Radiohead shows to post on here, some I own as cds and others are mp3s from traders but either way sooner or later there will probably be an explosion of Radiohead stuff on here including a 24+ cd set of rarities. Its a bootleg complied by who the hell knows but is full of interesting stuff. Stay tuned Radiohead supporters.

Thought I think the next major explosion post will br Public Image Ltd, I have all the shows that made the cut on the hdd. the legends of Janes Addiction had been circling through my circle of friends for a few years before I really got to hear them. Tales from mates who got to see them while in Kali made us all hungry to see and hear them.

I was tripping out and after the Fields of the Nephilim tape was over I put in the just bought cassette of Nothings Shocking, fuuuuuuck by the time the 1st 2 songs on that tape had passed I was very into these guys.

After side 2 I played the Cults Love Removal Machine cassette maxi, 1st up was Wolf Childs Blues to follow the amazin Janes shit I had just heard.

It was a very nice sonic afternoon traveling down the country roads, a passenger in control of the sonic vibage.

I've never known much about these guys except that in Ferris Bullers Day Off they had this great song in it. Eventually found a bootleg of the soundtrack with the song in the late 80s, it was a good day.

So fast forward to the later 90s or early 00 and I stumble across the true underground o the internet and found this along with 3 12in eps.

Unfortunately for me Beat City was the best song this band ever did, by a long shot.

But in all honesty this Janice Long Session shows the band very well with all songs being pretty solid for that mid 80s electronic flare. Still I never really listen to many of these songs all the way, just give me my fix of Beat City please.

We have the Maxwells show and the sound check, which is pretty cool, always nice to get some sound check in, I've found that they at times actually have better sound quality then the actual show. Due to a variety of reasons all which depend on the depends.

Along with that is the Saturday Night Live appearance from 1986 and a session at VPRO Radio in Holland and a random live track from the same year.

I liked early REM up to and including Lifes Rich Pageant and a track here and there on the next 2 albums that followed and then the love affair was over. Didn't hide away my REM collection but felt like I had to say "I liked the early stuff but not this crap now" just like with Bad Brains, the Cult and a few others ... but at least I wouldn't say REM sound out, just went too middle of the road for me, where as a band like Bad Brains or the Cult seemed to have sold out for a bit in the late 80s early 90s and never really recovered in my opinion. Which I am allowed to have.

So I'm posting these for a dear friend (zup Merideth!) she's a Radiohead junkie and was the one who got me into them. Granted I don't like anything they did until OK Computer and still am not too into that album.

Well Radiohead is like this for me, there's the 'live' band and the 'studio' band and until Amnesiac I really only liked them live, from OK PC on wards. But since Amnesiac I've really come to appreciate they're studio sound as well.

I believe it's because Radiohead started to fight for artistic freedom and indepencene starting with OK PC and really got it with Amnesiac, I loved the songs on Kid A but had only heard live versions for about a year until i finally bought the album.

It just seems to me that Radiohead from OK PC and through Kid A had 2 different sounds, the record company controlled studio sound and the "what we really want these songs to sound like" live sound.

Before the OK PC album I thought, not my cup of tea.

These demos, for me, a supporter of the "free" Radiohead, well I'm not too keen on them at all.

But then what do I know ? <;-)

I do have a good amount of Radiohead live shows and demo collections to get up here, sooner or .. most likely later. This blogish goes by impulse, I go looking for something in the library and come across many other things that interfere with getting one project really going.

As with now, I have about 10 albums on the hdd for the blogish but not one other is a Radiohead at the moment, and when I go back into the archives to pull out something, that archive will have 3 or 4 Radiohead references and I'll then post them.

So is life, full of varity, who wants to eat oatmeal every day? No matter how good it is, need some change.

Info below taken from a couple different websites after a quick google search on the demos, it doesn't cover all the tracks, I'm not too sure what the deal is, if you know leave a comment.

"Before Radiohead were signed, they were called 'On A Friday'. This was because the only time they could practice was on Fridays. They produced the On A Friday demo tape which convinced the management team of Chris Hufford and Bryce Edge to make the Manic Hedgehog demo that eventually got them signed. This was all in 1991, and soon after being signed, the band changed their name to Radiohead, which is the title of a Talking Heads song. The two demos below were cassettes recorded by On A Friday.

The tracks have been circulated on a Radiohead fan site ateaseweb.com.

The first demo dates from 1988 when the band were still called On A Friday, and includes the songs ‘Happy Song’, ‘To Be A Brilliant Light’ and ‘Sinking Ship’.

The second demo is believed to have been recorded in the summer of 1990, when the band had changed their name to Shindig.

So, I'll not make this a practice on the blogish, well it's my blogish and I can do whatever I want!

But ....

I'm at work and haven't the time to update the blogish proper for a bit and have been listening to the Timeout Drawer in the car and on runs (actually they and a lot of other bands have permanent homes on the ipod I use for running so I guess that doesnt count..) .....

the Timeout Drawer is a band I am always going back to and I think that they deserve some more pimpin out, and since I don't have any live sets or demo sessions to share I want to reiterate that if you've not heard of them or have but haven't had a listen yet or are just familiar with their last couple release, check them out! (and yes I got the ok to share this home made -by yours truly- compilation)

I really dug this band, post rock with lyrics. Granted I prefer my "newer" bands to be lyric-less I do find about 1 or 2 out of every new 10 groups do have vocals. Just am getting tired of people yelling and or telling me the same crap over and over.

I have a few more DKs laying about that I'll get too sooner or later, for anyone paying attention I'm not real anal about the updates here, like to get them done but other things are fun to play with also.

There are to date about 15,000 various recordings I'd like to get up here one day, lets see how many I get to before i 1) tire of it all or 2) die.

Nice set by the boys and I must say as a former 80s punk, thank grud DKs where never on MTV, although with all the trendy bullshit thanx to MTV and the like it seems that the terms "punk" and "gothic" and "independent" or "alternative" are just a joke that you can buy at your local mall.

A very good friend once told me "otto one day MTV will get a hold of this and turn it into the main stream" to which i replied with laughter and "who the hell would think it is cool to live like this" to which the unimaginative future generations would say "anyone who wants attention and wouldn't know a just 'CAUSE' from a twilight movie and a Green Day cd" ...

Big Country went through a period I didn't care for too much and the Peace In Our Time album was it, after that album I pretty much lost interest in the band but later on, around 1998 or so I was introduced to some great tracks they recorded in the 90s and set out to locate most of the material I had skipped over.

The Restless Natives & Rarities collections are a great source for that material.

This live set, like so many Big Country shows is just amazing, they really where one hell of a live out fit especially when the original line up was around, lets face it Mark Brzezicki was one of the best drummers ever, the Cult where able to get him for the Love album and we are all lucky for that, amazing drummer.

Unfortunately Stuart took his own life in Hawaii of all places I believe and the roaring days of Big Country came to an end.

RIP.

Shit they play City Hobgoblins!, that's an 'A' right there based on set list alone.

Pretty good set list for the time period but the over all recording is in the 'B' range, I want to say 'B+' but I think im being influenced by the set list ie City Hobgoblins and the tracks off This Nations Saving Grace album, for some reason Bend Sinister and me never got on too well.

This recording is of The Fall as support (bizarrely) to The Damned at the latter's '10th Anniversary Tea Party' gigs in London's Finsbury Park. Quite how The Fall got picked for as support is a mystery, but I love The Damned and The Fall, so it was a real treat for me, made even sweeter by the fact that New Model Army were also on the bill. Anyway, the recording: this is a very good audience tape. I can't imagine where the taper stood as there's almost no crowd intrusion and all the instruments are clear and well-balanced. The set sees The Fall playing almost all of their then current 'Bend Sinister' album.

Although the sound is generally average on this recording, it is possibly one of the largest gigs the band ever played - second on the bill at the Reading Festival. They were originally third, but Spear of Destiny pulled out, leaving The Fall playing immediately before headliners The Mission. This period was the band's commercial peak, and the set is largely comprised of songs from 'The Frenz Experiment' and singles of that period.

As with the post below, thanx to Raf for sending me the tapes and this show is the other one he recorded.

I think there are 23 or 24 more tapes to go through, some stuff is already up here but over the next few months I'll get those shows and demos up here the best I can.

Also same as before, no real mixing needed on this one either, simply applied hiss filters to get rid of the back round tape hiss without taking away from the recording itself.

And we have on this recording a different intro to Vagabonds to what is on the 1991 show, if I remember correctly, and I might not, this is how they played it in Chicago in 1993 also.

Where to start, i received around 25 NMA live and demos cassettes in the mail from a nice man from France, We'll just call him Raf. By the way if you know Raf give him a big hug and buy him whatever he's drinking on me, can't thank you enough man!

Mr Raf did an exceptional job on 2 of these tapes, the ones posted now, because he was the one of recorded the concert. I had to mix the original tapes down very little, actually all I did was filter out tape hiss, no other filter was applied to either recording.

These shows are great, as usual NMA always deliver, always have and always do.

Ed brings about an different intro to Vagabonds, I refer to this one as "Celtic Intro", to the one found on the record, of course this I'm comes to no surprise to those who saw NMA live during the 'Ed years' (good years too, I saw him with the band 3 times ... right?!? think so ... any way, I liked it when he was an open'er for the band, just Ed on stage of the Metro belting out a channel to the ghosts of composers past, ....) off track ... right vo vas ich?!? Right Ed ... plays it a bit different ... I think I have, including the original lp stylee (yeah pronounce it with the double e, its Mikey Dread style ...e) 4 different intros to the song ... ,,, any way.. its fun ...

My fav new NMA live moment is perhaps on this recording ... on 125mph ... guitar solo ... love it love it love it .... bloody BRILLIANT!!! ..... i honestly do love it ... if nothing else dl pt02 and listen to that one song ... pay fecking attention ... there wont be a test later ...

a good recording.

This is the full session, unlike what we found on the vinyl and cd so if for no other reason you can hear the full session, All Glory ends within .49 seconds but thats on the vinyl and cd pressings. This does sound a bit slower to me, could just be me though.

The bass and guitar sounds great on this one and the vocals and drums sound a bit distant and flat and the vocals can sound distorted at times and not in the Discharge type of way.

Of course I'm a middle aged guy whos been hammering his ear drums for decades so maybe it's just all my personal inner filter that's out of whack.

Good volume at times its almost like the volume pushes too high into the range and there are drops esp in the bass, but then I pay attention to the bass 1st and foremost in most of my modern tunage.

I think what it is perhaps Ians not belting out all the vocals and the Barry not finishing all his notes through, maybe a sign of things to come in the bands demise.

Sound quality is 'B+'. Again sounds like a solid 80s radio broad cast.

Into A Circle, who were Getting the Fear with were the Southern Death Cult, for me just seem to loose greatness with every evolution of the band.

Granted by the time they became Into A Circle the only member in the band from the Southern Death Cult days was Barry Jepson. In fact Into A Circle one comprised of Bee and Barry from Getting the Fear.

If this band had never been the Southern Death Cult I would have never expect so much from them and in turn probably would have liked them more (esp Getting the Fear), even though the singer reminds me of someone who should be fronting a band like Kajagoogoo, and that aint a compliment in my book.

Like Ian (front man for them Southern Death Cult/Death Cult/Cult) Bee also liked to use various mythology in his writing but instead of a strong Native American influence like Ian, Bee was more prone to the mythos of the Middle East, and it did make for some interesting stories.

I f you were into the Southern Death Cult then Getting the Fear & Into A Circle are worth a listen.

Most of the stuff that I want to post that are going to be my rips in the near future will be sourced from cassette and vinyl so while I try to get them going (between projects for the house and enjoying my vinyl collection in my "man cave" finally) I'll be posting the above and a few more New Model Army shows I recently received on mp3.

Getting the Fear. Finally after all these years I've been able to get to hear them, we'll let's just say they weren't no Southern Death Cult.

This show we still hear the band with some of the SDC melodies and structures in place, but the new singer "Bee" sorta kills it with his Kajagoogoo style of singing and the band just don't seem to be able to really keep up the SDC vibe without the man who obviously drove the bust, Ian Astbury, not that they should still be SDC, that would have be, impossible, but I thought that the band would still bring that special spark to the table that they had as SDC, to my ears they didn't. Still good, esp this show but just missing that originality and passion and freedom that was SDC. For me at least.

Getting the Fear wiki data:
"Getting the Fear were an English band of the 1980s. Its members were Barry (Jepson), Buzz (David Burrows), Aki Nawaz (Haq Quershi), and Bee (Paul Hampshire). The band was formed largely of former members of Southern Death Cult, with the exception of the singer Bee who replaced Ian Astbury on vocals.

After the band dissolved, Bee and Barry went on to form Into A Circle, another 1980s band. Aki and Buzz formed a band called ('Joy') which played few gigs in the early 80's, one being at London Zoo ( club night was called ' Zoo ') though this partnership was short lived. Bee later moved to Thailand and joined the electro-rock band FUTON alongside Simon Gilbert from Suede. Barry became a tour manager for bands in the UK. Aki went on to form the political Islamic hip-hop group Fun-Da-Mental and to create the label Nation Records. Buzz moved to the south of France and became an antiques dealer."

I had known most of this through getting bits and pieces of info on Into A Circle but never know Buzz went to France to be an antiques dealer.

Sound quality is 'B'. This recording has a couple spots that are 'A' and also 'C', but over all a 'B'.

I like the 1984 show, reminds of Southern Death Cult in a way but lacking the brilliance. Of course no Ian who I'm sure contributed to the over all "positive punk" sound of SDCs music.

This recording shows the period where Getting the Fear were moving into 'Into A Circle' which is a sound I don't care for. if you liked Into A Circle you'll dig this.

I'm finally in the process of moving, so post may be a while, have to switch over the isp provider so not too sure when I'll be back up, we dont move until next week but we're packing and going to see New Model Army and having our 1st anniversary on the 26th, so, I might post again in the week or it may be a few weeks.

About this show, 1st off if you don't know the Album Leaf are one of the best low fi, indie, post rock, IDM bands around, and this live recording is of excellent quality.

the Album Leaf is an instrumental band, actually until recent new recording sessions Jimmy wrote and played all the instruments on all his (the Album Leaf) records only using additional musicians on tour, rumor has it the new album will be recorded with a full band, I just hope Jimmy continues to be the main song writer.

Leithana, like KatieJane is just plain sexy but no one gets to me mentally like KatieJane does that woman just gets me going period, if Katie was a goddess I'd build temples all over the world.

That being said.....

Leithana is incredible in her own right, like a neo pagan classical queen plucked right out of another time, or better yet a novel written about a time in the future that resembles baroque Europe and ancient Greece, an amazing woman.

At the Drive In's 2nd release was the EP Alfaro Vive Carajo. I've heard there are 2 different version of the cover, same art but different presentation. From what I can gather there is the image you see here and one that has the two masks shown individually and not stacked.

I personally don't know, I have this one and until I read the wiki excerpt below I didn't even know this was issued on cd.

Alfaro Vive, Carajo! was also self issued by AtDI like Hell Paso.

Wiki fun fact quote (actually the fact found in isn't very fun at all);

"Alfaro Vive, Carajo! is the second EP by At the Drive-In, released in 1995.

"Plastic Memories" is omitted from the vinyl release of the EP, and was later re-recorded and released on the El Gran Orgo EP as "Picket Fence Cartel". The back-up vocals on "Ludvico Drive-In" were done by Laura Beard and Sarah Reiser, who were friends with Bixler-Zavala and were also fellow band members in the short lived group The Fall on Deaf Ears. I loved At the Drive In, granted their early work isn't as evolved as the later In Casino Out and Relationship lps but none the less fun to listen to.

I'm the proud owner of all of AtDIs out put, I'm pretty sure, and their evolution was very enjoyable, I wouldn't recommend Acrobat over Relationship to anyone, I'd simply recommend the full discography, adding not to miss the ep Vaya either.

I'll post a few rare and OOP AtDI things, nothing that is still in print, a little live and a little odds and sods in the near future.

Fun Facts quote taken from Wiki:

"In November of 1994, using Ward's college savings, the band released their first seven-inch single, 'Hell Paso', on their own Western Breed Records." [1] The title is play on words of the band's hometown, El Paso.

the Sea, Like Lead, in the same league as Mogwai, the Timeout Drawer and their contemporaries rates in my book as brilliant.

They are, unfortunately, no more. Called it a day in 2006 for reasons unknown. Here is their discography, a short one but none the less amazing.

I generally don't post recent studio stuff without permission from the band and seeing as how I don't post at great rate here I've not even gotten anywhere close to the out of print studio stuff I want to post which will take time coz it's mostly vinyl and a few cassettes, so.

This is ript from my cd, Internal was issued as a promo only, it never saw a retail release.

It offers nothing unissued but does include an interview done in 1991, split up over the length of the cd. It would seem from the interview that then band was ready to take the world by storm, but sometime within the year they started to work on different projects and never reunited to record or tour again.

The cd offers, musically, a glimpse of the band that influenced what became known as the 'grunge' scene. If Die Kreuzen had never issued anything after 1984 it's debatable if the grunge sound would have been what it was, it's generally not debated by most but is taken as a fact.

No Die Kreuzen and Seattle's sound would have had a different tone. Bands like Soundgarden are even noted as citing Die Kreuzen as a major influence.

As in most cases, if you originate a sound or style or riff, its unlikely you'll be known for it but the ones you influenced will make the riches.

Over all a nice comp but really lacking on Die Kreuzens punk power/roots. The only track from the 1984 Self Titled is the slower, more in line with the rest of the cd, All White. See the posts below for the hardcore punk die kreuzen. It's also a shame they didn't include 'Pink Flag' on here just as a bonus.

The Cows & Beer 7in was Die Kreuzens 1st official ep (7in), previous to it's release they had only issued a few tracks on compilations. Right and mine was stolen, the 7in that is ... shitty thing to do to a person, stealing their records and the like.

If you've a copy of this please share it, been waiting since like 1985 or 86 to hear this tape.

Cows & Beer / Steers & Cheese is something I've compiled. Steers & Cheese referring to the addition of the compilation tracks and Steers = Cows and Cheese = more crap Wisconsin is known for, kinda like a mirror, clever huh? Wow drop acid.

I think this covers all the pre full length self titled sonic bomb from 1984. If i'm missing something then its news to me and you'd be a right bloke if you told me and left a link to dl whats not included here-in.

Don't make me go all MES on you people ...

I'll post 2 more Die Kreuzen things in the coming days. You've prob got them already, but then they're not for you are they, but the people who've not gotten them yet.

Right so here's the 2nd set of demos, and the last. Early die kreuzen was brilliant. They issued some stuff on comps and the cows and beer ep, all great.

But when they issued their 1st full length lp, die kreuzen it was fuckin awesome!!!! I don't know what happened to Dan's voice, and I usually don;t go for the high pitched screechin, but man 'o motherfuckin man did that ever add an extra level of gut wrenching hardcore street youth angst, pain and perhaps most of all - frustration.

I bought the tshirt with the lp cover on it at a show, man they were amazing ...

I highly recommend seeking out the self titled issued in 1984. I own an original vinyl pressing and i had it on cassette too, but that was given to a friend when i bought October File on cd and to my wonderful surprise saw that the Self Titled album was included.

I still think to this day you can only get it on cd with October File, shame really because it deserves its own issue will all these demos and upcoming stuff I'll be posting by them.
